Randy Holt started his career in the drilling industry when he was 16 years old working as a driller's helper and advancing to become a driller. In the late 1970's he started Holt Drilling and Pump Services, a domestic cable tool drilling company, however at that time the nation’s economy was very volatile which dictated he cease operations. He joined Armstrong Drilling as a driller, drilling large diameter, high production water wells until 1984.

In 1984 Randy founded Holt Drilling, drilling large diameter, high production water wells in addition to domestic water wells. Holt Drilling quickly grew into the largest full service drilling company in the Pacific Northwest, with over 30 employees, offering; water wells, environmental drilling, geotechnical drilling, site clearing, test pit digging, well rehabilitation, aquifer testing, well repairs, pump sales and services. In 2004 Holt Drilling was sold to Boart Longyear.

After a brief time, Randy left Boart Longyear. In 2007 Randy and Barbara Holt established Holt Services, Inc. providing water well drilling, well development, pump and aquifer testing, pump sales and servicing. In 2012, due to client demand, drilling services were expanded to include environmental and geotechnical drilling. By 2016 Holt Services, Inc. had grown to over 60 employees and has reestablished itself as the largest full services drilling company in the Pacific Northwest.

Barbara Holt has worked side-by-side in the drilling business with Randy Holt for more than 3 decades. She oversees all facets of the company with her main focus being contracts and finance. Barbara enjoys working with others on direction and problem solving. Her knowledge and expertise in the drilling industry have helped Holt Services Inc. grow to the organization it is today. Outside of work you will find her in the garden.

Steve Story has nearly four decades of experience in water well, geotechnical, and environmental drilling and heavy civil construction projects. Steve’s drilling career started in the field working as a helper on numerous types of drilling and pump rigs. He has performed field testing using constant rate and step draw down procedures. Steve was a driller on hollow stem auger rigs for 5 years, performing geotechnical and environmental drilling services. Steve was a sales engineer/geologist for 4 years then advanced to branch and district manager positions for nearly three decades. Steve has experience with water wells, well repairs, injection wells, geotechnical and environmental drilling projects; water well design, installation, rehabilitation and abandonment; monitoring well installation and abandonment; geotechnical borings and sampling; geotechnical instrumentation; test hole drilling, isolated zone, ground-water sampling; specification-package review and bidding; project safety oversight. Steve’s projects include ground densification using vibro-compaction, stone columns, and compaction grouting, jet grouting for ground stabilization/densification, foundation support through underpinning, ground water cut-off and contamination isolation, and slurry diaphragm walls for support of excavation and ground water cut off.

Steve joined the Holt Services team in 2014 and is responsible for business development and project management.

Steve Rasmussen has more than 14 years of environmental consulting and drilling experience. He specializes in all facets of environmental assessment and business development, including but not limited to: staff and resource management, general contracting, implementation of site-specific assessment and remediation, permitting, safety management and training, proposals, budget management, business strategy and marketing.

Steve has logged hundreds of soil borings using the unified soil classification system and has designed and constructed hundreds of groundwater monitoring and remediation wells. He has 14 years of experience in collecting and analyzing soil, water and vapor samples and he’s supervised field geologists, environmental scientists and subcontractors on many environmental assessment, remediation and infrastructure projects throughout Alaska, California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington.

Robert Stadeli has more than three decades of drilling industry experience. He grew up as a third generation well driller in a family business started in 1923 by his grandfather. Robert worked in the family business from a young age as a driller’s helper, driller, and project manager for commercial water supply projects and high profile environmental projects that included the Hanford Superfund Site and a 2-year project at the US Ecology dump site in Beatty, Nevada.

In 1998, Robert moved on from the family business to start a rotary division for a drilling company near Portland, Oregon. He managed the rotary division and grew it from a local/regional division to a US division, managing 8 -10 rigs. In 2015 Robert joined Holt Services, Inc. to start and grow our rotary division.

Dale Smith has worked in the drilling industry for nearly four decades. He has more than 24 years of managerial experience and 11 years as a driller using various drilling techniques. Dale has extensive experience in environmental and geotechnical soil sampling, dewatering, and water wells.

Dale started his drilling career in 1981 as a helper on air rotary drill rigs. He advanced to become a driller on air rotary rigs with casing hammer, installing domestic water wells and construction projects. By 1987 Dale was a senior driller and project manager for geotechnical and environmental investigation projects. In 1995 Dale became a senior project manager. He managed multiple drill crews for a variety of projects including dewatering, commercial water wells, geotechnical and environmental investigations. Dale has extensive experience managing multiple drill crews for dewatering projects, geotechnical investigations, environmental investigations, commercial water wells, and other types of drilling.

In June of 2013 Dale joined Holt Services, Inc. as a senior project manager. He manages up to 12 drill crews for various projects including geotechnical and environmental investigations, dewatering and commercial water wells.

Dale Abernathy has worked in the geotechnical and environmental drilling and construction management since 1988. Dale started his drilling career an assistant driller, advanced quickly and worked as a driller for 7 years. In 1996 Dale became a drilling supervisor and few years later became an operations manager. Dale’s experience includes design and implementation of both geotechnical and environmental drilling projects, monitoring well installation and abandonment, geotechnical borings and sampling, geotechnical instrumentation, ground-water sampling, specification-package review, project compliance with WSDOT and ODOT geotechnical design manuals, and project safety oversight.

In 2012 Dale joined Holt Services as operations manager and launched the environmental drilling and geotechnical drilling divisions. In March 2016 Dale was promoted to COO/CFO.

Sean Sewell, has 26 years of Safety and Environmental experience in the United States Army. He has a 100% success rate of zero safety incidents during his tenure as the Safety Officer in the Army. He oversaw the Safety and Risk Management program of over 200 personnel. Sean served a total of 28 years in the military as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Specialist. Sean Possess a comprehensive background in operations planning, training management, and interagency coordination, Hazardous Materials Emergency Management, Emergency Response, Safety and Risk Management. Sean has achieved several awards to include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Sean joined the Holt Services, Inc. team full-time in June 2019.

Karmen Helle has worked as an administrative professional in the environmental and geotechnical drilling industry for over 20 years and prides herself on being self-taught. Karmen specializes in accounts payable and payroll where she utilizes her great communication and accounting skills.

Stephanie Kamenzind has worked as an administrative professional in the drilling industry for more than 24 years. She’s worked in all administrative areas but focuses primarily on accounts receivables and project support/coordination. Her comprehensive experience in the drilling industry is extremely valuable to our day to day operations.

 

 

 

Katie Kamenzind works the front desk, handles the phone lines and assists Karmen and Stephanie with accounts payable/receivable and other administrative work. Katie also supports our project managers and drilling crews with their start cards and locates. She is a great asset; she join the Holt Services team in 2016.
