On June 12, 2026, Holt Services Inc. proudly hosted its inaugural Field Expo Day in Edgewood, Washington. Following the first day of Remfest Seattle, Holt Services partnered with Jay Zandell and the Epic Remfest team to deliver a unique two-day educational experience that brought together environmental professionals, contractors, consultants, laboratories, equipment suppliers, and industry experts from across the Pacific Northwest.
Field Expo Day featured four simultaneous hands-on demonstrations designed to provide attendees with a complete understanding of environmental field operations from drilling and well installation to sampling techniques, laboratory procedures, and remediation technologies.
Demonstrations Included:
Soil Vapor Probe Installation – GeoProbe 7822DT
Led by Jim Pender and Louie Fehner of Holt Services, attendees observed soil vapor probe installation techniques while Alex Stack of Blaine Tech Services provided instruction on soil vapor sampling best practices. Representatives from ALS Environmental discussed the importance of proper sample collection and laboratory submittal procedures for Summa canister analysis.
Monitoring Well Installation – Mobile B57 Track Rig
John Murnane, Matt Graham, and Abe Causland of Holt Services demonstrated monitoring well installation utilizing Holt's newest Mobile B57 track-mounted drill rig. Lee Bures and the Blaine Tech Services team provided valuable insight into low-flow groundwater sampling methodologies and field considerations.
Monitoring Well Installation – Terrasonic TSI150cc Sonic Rig
Led by Travis Stephens and the Holt Services team, attendees observed sonic drilling techniques and monitoring well construction. Fran Thie of Blaine Tech Services discussed PFAS sampling considerations and emerging industry practices, while Deane Simonin of ALS Environmental highlighted best practices for collecting and submitting water quality samples.
Injection Remediation Demonstration
Joe Rounds of Holt Services and Keith Munsey of Regenesis provided an in-depth overview of injection remediation technologies, discussing treatment media selection, application methods, and considerations for successful remediation projects.
Industry Collaboration and Education
One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from attendees. Many participants commented that the opportunity to witness the entire process—from drilling and well construction through sampling and laboratory analysis—provided a level of practical understanding rarely available in a single training event. Several attendees noted that newer staff members gained more real-world knowledge in a single day than they might otherwise receive in months of traditional training.
The event reinforced the value of bringing together drilling contractors, equipment providers, laboratories, consultants, and remediation specialists in a collaborative learning environment where questions could be asked, experiences shared, and best practices demonstrated in real time.
Supporting Northwest Battle Buddies
Beyond the educational opportunities, Field Expo Day also served a greater purpose. Through the generosity of attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and auction participants, nearly $8,000 was raised for Northwest Battle Buddies, helping support veterans and service members throughout our community.
Looking Ahead
The success of the inaugural Holt Services Field Expo Day exceeded all expectations and would not have been possible without the hard work of the Holt team, our exhibitors, sponsors, presenters, and attendees. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the event such a memorable experience.
This was only the beginning. Plans are already underway for an even larger event in 2027, and we look forward to continuing to create opportunities for education, collaboration, and giving back to our community.
We'll see you next year.
